I will be introducing a Senate Resolution recognizing November 23, 2025, through November 30, 2025, as “Bible Week” in Pennsylvania.
National Bible Week has been observed in the United States since 1941, when the National Bible Association launched the tradition during the challenging years of World War II. Since 1941, starting with President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, every US president has issued a proclamation and declared the week of Thanksgiving, National Bible Week.  For decades, National Bible Week has encouraged Americans to reflect on the historical, cultural, moral, and spiritual influence of the Bible. Starting from the Sunday preceding Thanksgiving, the church holds events to encourage reading, listening, and comprehending the basic teachings of the Bible. As the holy season transcends upon us, the next to the last month of the year is a great time to come together as a community and share our faith.
The Bible has played a foundational role in the lives of millions of Americans and Pennsylvanians. Its narratives, teachings, and values have influenced the development of laws and civic principles, the growth of charitable and community institutions, advancements in art, literature, and music, and countless individuals seeking guidance, hope, and moral grounding.
Regardless of religious tradition, the Bible’s impact on human history and American culture is undeniable. Recognizing Bible Week in Pennsylvania provides an opportunity to acknowledge its legacy, encourage reading and reflection, and honor the diverse faith communities throughout our Commonwealth.
I hope that you will join me in co-sponsoring this resolution.
