I will soon be introducing a resolution to recognize the 350th Anniversary of the Martyrdom of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

Guru Tegh Bahadue Ji lived from 1621 to 1675 and courageously opposed the forced conversion of Hindus to Islam under the rule of Emperor Aurangzeb an act that resulted in execution. Today, Guru Tegh Bahadue Ji is remembered for his act as “Dharam Di Chadar” or “the Shields of Faith” by Sikhs across the world.

Marking the anniversary of his martyrdom recognizes the continued right of Sikhs and every resident of the Commonwealth’s right to practice religious freedom.

Please join me in supporting this resolution designating November 24, 2025, the date of Guru Tegh Bahadue Ji’s martyrdom, as a day of religious freedom.
