Pennsylvania’s working people are under attack. Public services like schools and mass transit urgently require millions in funding, and our federal safety net programs like SNAP, LIHEAP, and Medicaid are set to see extreme cuts. If we do not deliver substantial new funding fast, the workers and families that make our Commonwealth run are going to feel real pain. Meanwhile, the richest Pennsylvanians are raking in billions in passive income every day, enjoying tax breaks, stock dividends, trust funds and more.

Pennsylvania must be an affordable home for all of us, not just the 1 percent. I plan to introduce a bill which would amend the Revenue code to increase the tax rate on wealth that does not come from work. This change will generate billions in revenue annually, and will only impact a small minority of the Commonwealth.
When billionaires and large corporations pay their fair share in taxes, Pennsylvania can meet its obligations without burdening working families. We can prevent devastating cuts to public transit, Medicaid, SNAP; avoid public job cuts; and expand investment in education, housing, and more.
Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to put working people first and save our services.
This legislation is a part of the “Tax Billionaires, Fund PA” campaign, alongside bills to close corporate tax loopholes (HB 1610) and tax digital ads (HB 1678).
