This resolution expresses condolences on the passing of the Honorable Edward J. Lucyk, a former 11-term member of the Pennsylvania House of Representatives, who represented the 123rd District from 1980 until 2002. Born on July 29, 1942, in Mahanoy City, Mr. Lucyk served his country in Vietnam, achieving the rank of Captain and receiving multiple military honors, including the Bronze Star. He was also an accomplished academic, holding a bachelor's degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point and a master's degree from George Washington University.

Throughout his legislative career, Mr. Lucyk was dedicated to advocating for veterans, seniors, and environmental and labor initiatives. He chaired several committees, including the House Military and Veterans Affairs Committee, and contributed to the House Appropriations Committee and the Legislative Coal Caucus. The resolution acknowledges his significant contributions to Schuylkill and Columbia Counties, as well as his family, including his children and grandchildren, who survive him.
