Many of us receive solicitation letters in the mail that may often be confusing as we try to decipher whether a bill is due or not. While solicitors usually state the notice is not a bill, the print may not be conspicuous and is at times buried in the content of the notice. This could lead to people sending money unnecessarily.
For this reason, I plan to introduce legislation that would require solicitors to conspicuously state that a notice is not a request for payment. This will assist in ensuring that people have a clear understanding that the notice is solicitation, so they do not unintentionally send money to solicitors.
Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to ensure people are well-informed regarding whether a notice is a bill or not.
