I will soon introduce legislation to establish “Charlie Kirk Day” as an official holiday in the Commonwealth and to commemorate the life and legacy of Charlie Kirk.

Charlie spent his life doing the difficult work of fostering dialogue and engaging in hard conversations head-on. Known for frequenting college campuses and leading students in thoughtful debate in the public forum, he attracted the upcoming generation into engaging with the American experiment – many for the first time. Charlie understood that open dialogue is not easy, yet foundational to the American experience.

Although his life was cut short, Charlie’s profound impact has been undeniably felt by Pennsylvanians of all beliefs and backgrounds.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to honor Charlie’s legacy and to reaffirm Pennsylvania’s dedication to free speech, civic engagement, and peaceful discourse by establishing October 14th as “Charlie Kirk Day.”  On this day, Pennsylvania institutions will remain open and be encouraged to sponsor programming for actively promoting civility and open dialogue.
