Grant awards can be a vital tool for Commonwealth agencies to provide the goods and services needed to assist citizens in a wide variety of areas-for example school safety or even the administration of elections. There are specific conditions and eligibility requirements for each grant award.

Grant awards with federal funding tied to them can include a whole host of “dos and donts” that could be somewhat overwhelming for the grantor and the recipient alike.

While the awards themselves are not the same it is important that some of the terms (in essence “boilerplate” language) remain consistent, in order to ensure that both the agency and its grantee are following the letter of the law at both the federal and even the state level.

Therefore, my legislation establishes the Federal Grant Requirements Act which provides specific language that must be included when a government agency enters into a grant contract funded using federal funds. Through this Act, we can ensure that these important efforts don’t lose their funding or worse by not “following the rules.”
