In the near future, I will introduce a resolution designating the weeks of October 5-11, 2025, January 11-17, 2026, and April 5-11, 2026, as "PIAA Officials Appreciation Weeks” in Pennsylvania. The three designated weeks take place in the respective Fall, Winter and Spring sports seasons that high school students participate in throughout our Commonwealth. This resolution is substantially similar to Senate Resolution 354 of the 2023-24 Legislative Session.

PIAA officials play a crucial role in school sports, ensuring fair play, safety, and sportsmanship for student-athletes, coaches, and fans. Their work goes beyond enforcing rules—they help create an environment where young athletes can grow, learn teamwork, and build character.

Officials promote respect, accountability, and resilience, shaping not just the game, but life lessons that extend far beyond the field.

Despite their vital role, PIAA officials often go unrecognized. They dedicate countless hours to training, preparation, and travel—often while juggling full-time jobs. PIAA Officials Appreciation Weeks give communities a chance to thank these unsung heroes, whose presence makes every game possible.

Previous co-sponsors of SR 354 were: Boscola, Costa, Culver, Dush, Miller, Rothman, Vogel and Judy Ward.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution to acknowledge and thank our PIAA officials who maintain order and the safety of our student-athletes on fields, courts and other athletic facilities throughout our Commonwealth.
