State veterans’ homes provide crucial care for those who have served our country with services including nursing care, domiciliary care, and memory care. Despite the important services that the State veterans’ homes provide, concerns have been raised about the quality of care veterans receive due to inadequate oversight.
My legislation would strengthen the oversight of State veterans’ homes by establishing the State Veterans’ Home Board as an autonomous entity within the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA). The existing oversight structure of State veterans’ home would be replaced with a board responsible for setting standards for effective and efficient administration and operation of State veterans' homes.
We have a duty to ensure quality care for the residents of Pennsylvania’s State veterans’ homes. Please join me in co-sponsoring a bill that would fulfill that responsibility.
