In the near future, I plan to introduce a resolution celebrating 15 October 2025 as Global Dignity Day in Pennsylvania.

Global Dignity Day is celebrated annually on the third Wednesday of October, inviting people across the world to look beyond what divides us and recognize the dignity and humanity we all share. This year, Global Dignity Day will be celebrated on Wednesday, 15 October.

While Global Dignity Day was born out of a 2005 World Economic Forum inaugural meeting of youth global leaders, foundational principles of human dignity can be found throughout history – including within the establishment of the United Nations and the European Convention on Human Rights.

Recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice, and peace in the world, as stated in the preamble to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

A number of nations, such as Germany and South Africa, have adopted human dignity Constitutional protections in response to atrocities that have occurred within their borders. Additionally, the states of Illinois, Louisiana, and Montana explicitly reference human dignity within their respective Constitutions.

It is my hope that, through celebrating 15 October 2025 as Global Dignity Day, Pennsylvanians can come to understand the importance of treating themselves and others with dignity.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution celebrating 15 October 2025 as Global Dignity Day in Pennsylvania.
