Life insurance plays an important role in ensuring the financial security of Pennsylvanians who face an untimely tragedy. It offers peace of mind to more than 6 million Pennsylvanians, providing the average policyholder with a benefit of approximately $148,000 to assist their beneficiaries. In 2022, Pennsylvanians received $11.7 billion in payouts by life insurance policies, or more than $31 million daily.

Unfortunately, too many Pennsylvanians do not have the financial protection or stability that sufficient life insurance brings in the event of the death of a primary income earner on whom they depend.

In order to raise awareness about this important insurance product and how it benefits the people of Pennsylvania, we are introducing this resolution to recognize September as “Life Insurance Awareness Month.

Please join me and Chairman Street in the Banking and Insurance Committee’s annual effort to raise awareness on the importance of life insurance as mechanism to provide financial security for families in the wake of personal tragedies.
