Too frequently, I have seen the price of gasoline change throughout the course of a day. It is understandable that the price of gas can change due to supply trends, seasonal shifts, and competition between business. However, multiple increases to the price of gas in a single day takes advantage of the average consumer.

My legislation would prohibit multiple, same day increases in the price of gasoline. Retail sellers of gas would still be allowed to increase the price of gas upon receiving a new delivery of gas to the retail location. In no way would the bill prohibit a seller from lowering the price on gas to compete with other retail sellers. The bill would also include reasonable exceptions for an increase in taxes or fees impacting the price and for clerical errors.

As prices for other essential products continue to rise, consumers deserve a fair price at the pump. Please join me in co-sponsoring this important bill.
