As the Chairs of the Aging and Older Adult Services Committee, we invite you to join us as a co-sponsor of legislation that will help ensure that Pennsylvanians are fully informed of the array of available long-term care services and support options.

For individuals who need care equivalent to that provided in a nursing home, two key options are available: the Community HealthChoices (CHC) managed care program and the Living Independence for the Elderly (LIFE) Program. LIFE serves adults aged 55 and older by offering a full spectrum of medical and supportive services, enabling them to remain in their homes and communities. Through a coordinated, team-based approach, the LIFE Program delivers personalized care in a cost-effective and sustainable model.
However, despite its valuable offerings, the LIFE Program remains underutilized due to a lack of public awareness among Pennsylvanians. Our proposed legislation aims to bridge this gap by ensuring that clear, accessible information about the program is shared with eligible individuals. By doing so, we empower Pennsylvanians to make informed choices about their long-term care—choices that support their independence, preserve their dignity, and enhance their quality of life. To confirm that participants have received and understood this information, they will be provided with an attestation form to sign.
Please consider co-sponsoring this legislation aimed at promoting awareness of the LIFE program so that individuals can make well-informed decisions regarding their long-term care needs.
