In the near future I will introduce a resolution extending condolences to the family of Charlie Kirk in the aftermath of his assassination.
On the day after graduating from high school, Charlie Kirk founded Turning Point USA, an advocacy organization focused on bringing free debate and traditional values to colleges and high schools across the country. For 13 years, Mr. Kirk dedicated his life to leading a restoration of patriotism and American values to a new generation of young people.
Mr. Kirk was also a man of faith, speaking regularly and poignantly of his Christian values and the foundations they provide to his life and to our nation. He likewise encouraged young people to build lives of value and meaning beyond politics, particularly by seeking marriage and raising children.
Tragically, Kirk was murdered on September 10th, 2025, by an assassin who hated the values he espoused. At the time of his killing, he was again seeking to bring open debate and civil dialogue to a university campus, a mission he had undertaken innumerable times despite a sharply worsened climate of chilled speech in our nation’s colleges and universities.
Charlie Kirk helped encourage a new generation of young Americans to return to the civic values and culture that made this nation great, ultimately giving his life for his mission. His death leaves behind his wife and two young children, alongside millions of other Americans mourning his loss.
Pease join me in honoring the life and achievements of Charlie Kirk and extending condolences to his family and loved ones.
