Each October, the United States Department of Transportation and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration promote “National Pedestrian Safety Month” in an effort to reduce pedestrian injuries and fatalities by educating drivers and pedestrians on how to stay safe on the road. This annual campaign highlights the increasing need for pedestrian safety as populations grow and roads become busier.

To bolster national efforts here in Pennsylvania, I am introducing a corresponding resolution designating October 2025 as “National Pedestrian Safety Month.” It is my hope that all residents of Pennsylvania will utilize the many resources and educational materials provided by federal and state agencies and pedestrian-safety advocates that are available to them during “National Pedestrian Safety Month” so that our roads and neighborhoods are safer for all who enjoy them.
