Please join me as a co-sponsor of legislation that would empower Pennsylvanians to take greater control of their physical health by engaging in regular physical activity.  According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, physical activity assists with weight management, improves mental health and cognition, and reduces the risk of many health issues, including cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and even some cancers.
Under this legislation, every Pennsylvania taxpayer would be eligible for a tax credit of up to $1,000 to offset the costs of gym and health club memberships.
As the pace of life continues to increase unabated, this legislation will allow the Commonwealth to send a clear message about the importance of regular physical activity. The direct health benefits will be seen in the lives of our citizens, while the secondary financial benefits to the Commonwealth will be seen in the reduced health insurance rates and Medicaid costs that we all pay.
I look forward to working with you on this important legislation.
