Pennsylvania is one of a few states that do not have a standard statewide license for plumbers, instead relying on oversight and licensure or certification at the local level which can vary and be confusing to navigate. State licensure ensures plumbers are qualified to provide plumbing work safely and protects homeowners from extra costs due to faulty installation or substandard work. Licensure requirements also ensure that plumbers receive extensive and rigorous training, have on-site experience, and possess the proper skill set to perform plumbing work.

To address these concerns regarding worker safety and consumer protection, I plan to introduce legislation that creates a statewide license for plumbers. The legislation will streamline and standardize the licensure process and remove barriers to opportunities for workers, such as allowing for licensure reciprocity in other states.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to protect Pennsylvania consumers by ensuring that they are hiring plumbers who are qualified and by supporting licensed plumbers in the workforce.
