In the near future, I plan to reintroduce a resolution recognizing October 9, 2025, as Ageism Awareness Day in Pennsylvania.
Ageism is one of the most widespread and socially accepted forms of prejudice, impacting older adults’ health, longevity and financial well-being. Ageism Awareness Day is an opportunity to draw attention to the effect of ageism in our society and how we can shift our attitudes toward aging.
It is up to all of us to ensure that older adults are respected and portrayed as capable, competent, effective, and valued members of society. Preventing ageism benefits all residents of the Commonwealth.
Please join me in co-sponsoring this resolution on behalf of our older citizens.
