We will soon introduce a resolution recognizing September 2025 as "Senior Center Month" in Pennsylvania.

The Commonwealth is home to 3.4 million older adults, one of the highest totals in the country. Over the next five years, our senior population is expected to increase significantly to the point where more than one-third of Pennsylvanians will be aged 60 and older by 2030. It’s important that we continue to support and invest in our senior centers today so that they are prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow in helping more and more people age with grace and dignity in safe, supportive, and welcoming environments.
This year’s theme for National Senior Center Month is “Flip the Script." There is a need to challenge the outdated perceptions of aging & senior centers. With over 500 senior centers across the Commonwealth, we need to celebrate the dynamic role that they play in fostering creativity, connection, purpose, and resilience in later life.

Our senior centers offer a variety of important programs to help our older friends, neighbors, and loved ones stay happy, healthy, productive, and empowered in their golden years. From providing nutritious meals to organizing social activities to offering health screenings, exercise programs, and art classes, they are central to the well-being of our aging population.

And of course, these centers would not be possible without the compassionate staff, dedicated volunteers, and generous supporters who keep them running!

Please join us in designating September 2025 as "Senior Center Month" in Pennsylvania.
