Kids Music Day, founded by Keep Music Alive located in Brookhaven, Pennsylvania, is celebrated each year on the first Friday in October. Keep Music Alive is a non-profit whose mission is to promote the “Value of Music.” This mission aims to help more children and adults reap the educational, therapeutic, and social benefits of playing music.

Over the past decade, Keep Music Alive along with music educators, schools, nonprofit organizations, and local businesses have joined together to organize free lessons, open houses, and family‑friendly performances for children of all ages. In addition, Keep Music Alive has partnered with more than 80 music schools, stores, and organizations around the world to offer free music lessons to new students keeping with their mission.

With these laudable endeavors in mind, in the coming days, I will be introducing a Resolution that designates October 3, 2025, as Kids Music Day in Pennsylvania. This Resolution will also commemorate the 10th Anniversary of Kids Music Day. By honoring the 10th Anniversary of Kids Music Day in the Commonwealth, we not only celebrate its success but also encourage more communities across our great Commonwealth to embrace and expand music opportunities for our youth and adults.

To that end, I encourage you to please join me in co-sponsoring this Resolution. As legislators, we should endeavor to stand in harmony with families, educators, and arts advocates by recognizing the important work they do. Together we can inspire the next generation of musicians, strengthen our cultural heritage, and help ensure that our neighbors with an interest have an opportunity to experience the joy of music.
