There are businesses throughout the Commonwealth that could benefit from utilizing the modern technology in security systems.  One of these technologies involves a unique perimeter security system that is installed inside existing barrier fences or walls.  These devices, known as “electrified security systems," send immediate notification to the alarm monitoring company who in turn, contacts the business owners with occurrence specific information for verification.
Unfortunately, the utilization of these systems has been impeded in regulatory uncertainty, which has prevented or slowed many businesses from installing them.  This puts products, employees and property at risk for business owners.
My legislation will ensure Pennsylvania businesses can protect their employees, property, and products from theft or vandalism.  It will create the Commercial and Industrial Products and Property Protection Act, to establish parameters for the installation and use of these security devices without impediments from ambiguity and red tape.
Similar legislation has been enacted in (29) other states, including Maryland, North Carolina, and Virginia.  We need to ensure our local businesses are afforded the same benefits as partners and competitors located in other states.
Join me in modernizing the security options for businesses in our state.
