Current law allows for emergency vehicles to have light bars and other emergency lights, indicating their status as an emergency vehicle. However, while armed probation officers in Philadelphia can have lights on their vehicles, those outside Philadelphia cannot.

Shortly, I will be introducing legislation to allow armed probation officers in the fifth judicial district, Allegheny County, to have lights on their vehicles. This is an important safety measure. By indicating their status as an emergency vehicle, armed probation officers alert their presence to not only the public, but other emergency vehicles and first responders. This ensures that if the armed probation officer needs assistance, they are easily recognizable.

Please join me and co-sponsor this incredibly important safety measure. I hope you join me and support the armed probation officers of Allegheny County.
