In today’s volatile political climate, elected officials and candidates for public office face a growing number of personal threats and safety risks. Tragically, recent events in Minnesota, Pennsylvania, and across the country have underscored the need for stronger safeguards to protect public servants and their families.

One urgent concern is the public accessibility of candidates’ and elected officials’ home addresses through campaign filings. While verifying a candidate’s eligibility and residence is necessary, the current practice of publicly disclosing home addresses creates a serious and unnecessary risk, particularly for those in highly visible or controversial positions.

I will be introducing legislation to amend the Pennsylvania Election Code to establish a more secure and responsible method for verifying residency without publicly exposing personal home addresses. This proposal seeks to strike the right balance between transparency and safety, ensuring the integrity of our elections while reducing the risk of targeted threats and violence.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation to protect the safety and privacy of those who step up to serve.
