In the near future, I will introduce legislation that would allow BYOB restaurants to collaborate with a local limited winery to sell that winery’s product in their establishment.

Small local restaurants are the foundation of our communities and offer their neighbors a warm and welcoming place to gather and enjoy a meal with family and friends. Many of these independent establishments would like to be able to offer a glass of wine to their customers. However, unlike the national and regional restaurant chains, these small businesses often cannot afford to purchase a liquor license for several thousands of dollars.

This legislation would allow licensed limited wineries to apply for and obtain an off-premises catering permit to serve their wine at BYOB restaurants that choose to collaborate with them. This is a targeted change that supports both our local restaurants and Pennsylvania’s wineries by providing customers more opportunities to enjoy Pennsylvania-made wine in their communities. The legislation will mirror
House Bill 1071, introduced by Rep. Joe Ciresi.

Please consider supporting consumers, our growing Pennsylvania winery industry, and small local restaurants statewide by co-sponsoring this legislation.
