In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation to repeal the vehicle emissions testing program in the Commonwealth.

Since being elected to the Senate, I have consistently sponsored legislation to reform this outdated program. The Senate has passed bipartisan measures to exempt certain counties from testing and to eliminate testing requirements for the five newest model years.

Critics have ignored the fact that over 99% of vehicles pass emissions testing. Instead, they argue that reform will jeopardize federal funding or trigger additional requirements from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

However, the Trump Administration is preparing to repeal all vehicle emissions standards and rescind the determination that new motor vehicles and engines pose a threat to public health or welfare.

My legislation will align Pennsylvania law with these federal actions, reduce the cost of owning and maintaining a vehicle, and eliminate the unnecessary and burdensome emissions testing program.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this commonsense legislation.
