In the near future, we will be introducing legislation to improve the Home Improvement Consumer Protection Act (HICPA).

We have been made aware of several incidents in our districts where home improvement contractors have taken advantage of customers and performed subpar work.  It has become clear that some adjustments to the current language in HICPA are necessary to try to keep this from happening to future customers.

We will be working with the Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Protection and the Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure Committee staff to develop the language.
