I am introducing legislation to amend Title 63 (Occupations and Professions) to address the growing concern of frivolous complaints filed against licensed practitioners.
Currently, Title 63 outlines the powers and duties of licensing boards and commissions within the Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs, however it does not contain specific language giving the boards and commissions authority to impose a penalty on individuals who file complaints that are deemed frivolous, groundless, or made in bad faith against licensed professionals.
My legislation will add a new section in Title 63 to address this issue, as these types of complaints can divert valuable resources from investigating legitimate concerns and can damage the professional reputations and livelihoods of practitioners.
Please consider joining me in co-sponsoring this important legislation.
Sincerely,
Parke Wentling
