In the near future, I intend to introduce legislation establishing an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Task Force within the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED). The purpose of this Task Force is to conduct a comprehensive study on the growing impacts of AI on education, workforce training and development, and the jobs of the future here in Pennsylvania.

As AI technology continues to evolve and expand its influence across nearly every sector of our economy, it is imperative that we proactively assess how these changes impact our K-12 education system, higher education institutions, and workforce development programs. This Task Force will provide particular focus on how Pennsylvania can best prepare future generations—both in classrooms and on the job—to succeed in an economy increasingly shaped by artificial intelligence and automation.

Specifically, the AI Task Force will examine:

- The implications of AI on K-12 and higher education curricula;
- Workforce training needs to equip Pennsylvanians with skills for AI-influenced industries;
- Opportunities and risks associated with AI’s impact on existing jobs and emerging careers;
- Recommendations to align education and training pathways, including career and technical education (CTE), with the evolving labor market.
- Additional key points and suggestions of AI influence on society and further study recommendations.
A well-prepared workforce is critical for Pennsylvania’s economic competitiveness. By better understanding the influence of AI and developing responsive policies, we can ensure that Pennsylvanians are not left behind in this rapidly changing landscape and education and job opportunities are best aligned.

I hope you will join me in this forward-looking effort to strengthen our educational systems and workforce readiness.
