Dear Colleagues,

I am introducing a resolution urging the Department of Corrections and the Governor's Office to reconsider proposed closures of Rockview Penitentiary and Quehanna Boot Camp.

These institutions have long supported Pennsylvania’s public safety and rehabilitation goals, offering secure housing, job training, mental health services, and substance abuse programs. Combined, they employ nearly 850 individuals and are economic anchors for Centre and Clearfield Counties.

Closing these facilities would displace inmates, disrupt rehabilitative programming, and eliminate hundreds of jobs for our constituents.

Your support in co-sponsoring this resolution will demonstrate the General Assembly’s commitment to public safety, rehabilitative integrity, and economic responsibility.
