In the near future I will be introducing legislation that will allow for an individual to request the source documents for a Pennsylvania Instant Check System (PICS) denial.

The PICS system serves as an invaluable resource to ensure only those who lawfully can purchase a firearm are doing so. But, like any system, false denials can and do occur, often due to incomplete records or simple human error. In these cases, individuals are frequently left in the dark, with limited access to the reasoning behind their denial and few tools to challenge it.

To remedy this issue, I plan to introduce legislation to allow individuals, or their legal representative, to subpoena evidence that is relevant to the denial. This will provide transparency, empower individuals to assess the accuracy of the decision, and help ensure that legitimate errors are corrected in a timely manner.

Please join me in co-sponsoring this important piece of legislation to help protect against false PICS denials.
