This bill amends the Unemployment Compensation Law in Pennsylvania, specifically Section 401(f), which outlines the qualifications required for an employee to secure unemployment compensation. The amendment stipulates that compensation will be payable to any employee who becomes unemployed, provided they have worked ten credit weeks and earned remuneration equal to or exceeding fifteen times their weekly benefit rate after separation from work under disqualifying circumstances. This change increases the previous requirement from six times to fifteen times the weekly benefit rate.
Additionally, the bill clarifies that the provisions regarding remuneration do not apply to individuals who are suspended from work due to a leave of absence granted by their last employer, as long as they have made a reasonable effort to return to work after the leave. The act is set to take effect six months after its passage.
