This bill amends Title 35 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes regarding enforcement officer disability benefits specifically related to COVID-19. It updates Section 57A02 to provide compensation for enforcement officers who contract or are diagnosed with COVID-19, or who are quarantined due to exposure to the virus, during a declared disaster emergency by the Governor. The bill specifies that these officers will receive benefits in accordance with the Enforcement Officer Disability Benefits Law, with a limitation of 60 days for each incident.

Additionally, the bill introduces a definition section that clarifies the term "COVID-19" as the infectious disease caused by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, first identified in December 2019. The previous language referencing the proclamation of disaster emergency issued on March 6, 2020, has been removed, and the new provisions will take effect 60 days after the bill's passage.
