This bill amends the Insurance Company Law of 1921 to mandate that health insurance policies in Pennsylvania provide coverage for prostate cancer screenings for individuals who are at least 40 years old and at high risk for the disease. The coverage must include all expenses associated with the screenings, which are to be conducted at least annually. High-risk factors include a personal or family history of prostate cancer, or other medically appropriate reasons as determined by a physician. Importantly, the bill stipulates that this coverage will not be subject to cost-sharing, meaning that insured individuals will not have to pay out-of-pocket expenses such as deductibles or copayments for these screenings.

The bill also defines key terms related to the coverage, including "cost-sharing," "family history of prostate cancer," and "prostate cancer screening." It establishes that the new provisions will apply to health insurance policies filed or renewed 180 days after the effective date of the act. The act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage.
