This House Resolution honors the memory of the Honorable Isabella V. "Izzy" Fitzgerald, a former member of the House of Representatives who passed away on December 6, 2024. Ms. Fitzgerald served the 203rd District in Northwest Philadelphia from 2017 to 2023 and was an active member of the Legislative Black Caucus, the Philadelphia Delegation, and PennSERVE. Her extensive career included roles as a legislative assistant and special assistant to U.S. Representative Robert A. Brady, as well as significant contributions as a community organizer and ward leader. A Philadelphia native, she was deeply involved in her community, advocating for cleaner and safer neighborhoods and supporting youth and families through various initiatives.

In recognition of her impactful leadership and dedication, the City of Philadelphia renamed Stenton Avenue and Washington Lane in her honor on December 15, 2024. The resolution expresses gratitude for Ms. Fitzgerald's community outreach and leadership, emphasizing her guiding principle, "Let's Keep Moving Forward." The House of Representatives pays tribute to her legacy and extends condolences to her family, specifically her sons Ray and Derek Fitzgerald, by transmitting a copy of the resolution to them.
