This House Resolution honors the memory of the Honorable Isabella V. "Izzy" Fitzgerald, a former member of the House of Representatives who passed away on December 6, 2024. Ms. Fitzgerald served the 203rd District in Northwest Philadelphia from 2017 to 2023 and was an active member of the Legislative Black Caucus, the Philadelphia Delegation, and PennSERVE. Her extensive career included roles as a legislative assistant and community organizer, where she advocated for cleaner and safer neighborhoods, particularly in the Mount Airy and East Oak Lane areas. She was also involved in supporting women with breast cancer through her work with Women of Faith and Hope.
In recognition of her contributions, the City of Philadelphia renamed Stenton Avenue and Washington Lane in her honor on December 15, 2024. The resolution expresses gratitude for Ms. Fitzgerald's dedication to community outreach and leadership, emphasizing her guiding principle, "Let's Keep Moving Forward." The House of Representatives pays tribute to her legacy and the impact she made in her community, and a copy of the resolution will be sent to her family.
