Colleagues,
I will soon be introducing legislation to address neighborhood concerns that often arise surrounding unauthorized encampments.
In many cases, neighbors become concerned when encampments are established nearby that bring trash accumulation, drug paraphernalia, crime, risks from open flames, and blighted conditions.
Whether on public land, or private land, unauthorized encampments and these conditions are a threat to public safety, health and welfare for neighborhoods.
When municipalities cannot, or do not, act to clean these encampments up, neighbors often feel helpless to feel safe in their own homes and communities.
To that end, my legislation will provide rights of actions for neighbors and concerned residents to seek relief from their municipalities by way of forcing them to act.
Please join me in helping communities address these concerns and bring health and safety to effected neighborhoods.
