I am preparing to introduce a bill that extends support to our dedicated Firefighters and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel.
As you're aware, Pennsylvania is facing a critical shortage of both paid and volunteer firefighters, as well as EMS professionals. These first responders are the backbone of our communities—risking their lives, responding around the clock, and often doing so with limited resources. We must do more to support and retain these essential workers, and I believe offering a tax incentive—similar to what has been proposed for law enforcement—can make a meaningful difference.
My legislation would provide a $2,500 annual tax credit for a period of three years to qualified Fire and EMS personnel currently serving in Pennsylvania, as well as those who choose to relocate here to serve in these roles.
This is a targeted, tangible way to show our appreciation, strengthen recruitment and retention efforts, and ensure our communities continue to receive the emergency response services they rely on.
I invite you to join me in co-sponsoring this important legislation and demonstrating our collective commitment to supporting those who keep Pennsylvanians safe every day.
