I plan to reintroduce legislation that will update Act 69 of 1967, which validates conveyances and other legal instruments which have acknowledgments containing technical errors.
The proposed legislation will validate acknowledgments for deeds and mortgages which are more than four years old.
The Act was last amended in 2013 and the General Assembly has customarily updated the provisions of Act 69 about every seven years. When a technical error exists in an acknowledgment, it makes subsequent transfers of property difficult unless the error is corrected by this type of legislation.
Please join me in cosponsoring this legislation.
