A farm vehicle is a truck or truck tractor determined by PennDOT to be used exclusively for agricultural purposes. Under current law there are 4 types of classifications of farm vehicles each are determined by gross vehicle weight. These vehicles do not have a registration plate, instead they have an exemption sticker. Unfortunately, this sometimes causes law enforcement to mistakenly pull over farmers for not having a plate.
This is why I will be introducing legislation that would require PennDOT to create an exemption plate for farm vehicles. This optional plate would cost $20 and be displayed on the rear of the vehicle. This plate would be solely an option for a farmer to have for their farm vehicle.
