Pennsylvania is home to over 200 privately-owned campgrounds, an affordable choice for family vacations. These campgrounds allow families to enjoy the beautiful natural resources that our great state has to offer and benefit local businesses.

Unfortunately, ambiguity in existing state law is forcing campgrounds to face local amusement and admissions taxes that various other entities, such as bowling alleys and gyms, are exempt from. Ultimately, this is leading to increased costs for both campgrounds and those who frequent them, and it is decreasing campground usage.

For this reason, I am introducing legislation to explicitly exempt privately-owned campgrounds from local amusement and admission taxes. Many campgrounds do not use the local services that these taxes fund, and the increased burden is making camping a more costly endeavor. Please join me in co-sponsoring this legislation to preserve the affordability of our campgrounds.
