Resolution Supporting Character and Merit-Based Initiatives In the near future, I will introduce a resolution that affirms my steadfast commitment to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s powerful belief that the
"content of one’s character" is far more significant than any other aspect of identity.
While Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives are often seen as tools for fostering fairness, they have become sources of division in our public and private sectors.  In fact, DEI is more along the lines of "Divide et impera" (Divide and rule) than building a team. The fact of the matter is that DEI is divisive, and unamerican.  It's time to shift our focus towards merit-based systems rather than creating divides based on race, gender, or other identities.
This resolution is aimed at championing Character and Merit-Based initiatives. It is time we honor the vision of William Penn and see individuals based not on skin color or "Gender Identity" but on their character, actions, and achievements!
Rather than creating belonging, DEI sows division and fuel tensions among individuals and groups. Placing diversity damages team cohesion and intensifies societal divides. Everyone should be celebrated for their contributions, no matter what their background!
As we face the challenges ahead for our state, it's vital that our policies focus on uniting rather than dividing. Let’s move forward with policies that prioritize opportunity for everyone—based on merit, character, and ability, rather than identity.
In conclusion, let us reflect on the wisdom of two great leaders who understood the peril of granting “special” treatment to one group over another.
Abraham Lincoln wisely stated, “A house divided against itself cannot stand," and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. reminded us, "I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed—that all men are created equal." Together, we can forge a brighter, more unified future!
I invite you to join me in co-sponsoring this Resolution so that together, we can pave the way for a promising future.
