The proposed bill amends Title 18 of the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes by introducing a new section, 6143, which addresses the offense of undetectable firearms. Under this new provision, it will be illegal for individuals to manufacture, import, sell, ship, deliver, possess, transfer, or receive firearms that are constructed entirely of nonmetal materials or those that lack at least one major metal component. The bill specifies that a firearm is considered undetectable if it cannot be identified by walk-through metal detectors or if its major components do not generate an accurate image during security screenings at airports.

Violations of this new law will be classified as a felony of the third degree. The bill also provides definitions for key terms, such as "major component," which includes the barrel, slide or cylinder, and frame or receiver of a firearm. The act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage.
