We will soon be introducing a Resolution commemorating September 2, 2025, as the 80th anniversary of Victory in Japan Day, or “V-J Day.” This date marks the signing of the Japanese Instrument of Surrender, ending World War II.
The formal surrender of Japan came on September 2, 1945, when Japanese foreign minister Mamoru Shigemitsu and General Yoshijiro Umenzu, the Chief of the Army General Staff, signed the Japanese Instrument of Surrender. There to accept was General Douglas MacArthur, Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers. Representatives from the United States, China, the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, Australia, Canada, France, the Netherlands, and New Zealand, were also present.
We hope you will join us in cosponsoring this important Resolution.
