This bill amends the Cosmetology Law of Pennsylvania, originally enacted on May 3, 1933, to include new definitions and regulations regarding mobile units and salons. It introduces the term "Mobile unit," defined as a self-contained, enclosed mobile unit that is at least twenty-four feet in length, licensed by the board for cosmetology practice, and compliant with health and safety regulations. Additionally, the definition of "Salon" is expanded to include mobile units where licensed cosmetologists perform their services.
Furthermore, the bill modifies Section 16(b) to specify that if a salon owner changes the location of their salon, they must secure a new license, with the exception of mobile units. The board is tasked with establishing the fee for this new license through regulation. The act is set to take effect 60 days after its passage.
