Since 1963, we have honored the legacies and ongoing contributions of older adults through recognizing May as Older Americans Month across the nation. In Pennsylvania, during this monthly designation, we recognize the contributions made by our older adults and we honor their accomplishments within our communities.

This year, the theme of Older Americans Month is “Flip the Script on Aging” and is focused on changing how aging is perceived, talked about, and approached in our society. During this month, we are all encouraged to challenge existing misconceptions and stereotypes surrounding aging. Everyone, regardless of their age, can benefit from our older adults staying active and engaged in their communities, free from the burden of stereotypes.

Please join us in co-sponsoring this resolution to recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of older adults and encourage everyone in our Commonwealth to approach the topic of aging with kindness, empathy, and open-mindedness.
