A RESOLUTION
1 Recognizing April 29, 2025, as "World Wish Day" in Pennsylvania.
2 WHEREAS, The mission of the Make-A-Wish Foundation is
3 "Together, we create life-changing wishes for children with
4 critical illnesses"; and
5 WHEREAS, The Make-A-Wish Foundation has been granting life-
6 changing wishes for children and families for 45 years; and
7 WHEREAS, Make-A-Wish International now brings the hope and
8 joy of granting wishes to more than 50 countries; and
9 WHEREAS, The Make-A-Wish Foundation currently grants a wish
10 every 33 minutes to a child in the United States and its
11 territories; and
12 WHEREAS, The Make-A-Wish Foundation has granted more than
13 585,000 wishes worldwide; and
14 WHEREAS, In fiscal year 2024, active Make-A-Wish chapters in
15 Pennsylvania granted 708 wishes to children with critical
16 illnesses in our community; and
17 WHEREAS, A child is diagnosed with a critical illness every
 1 20 minutes; and
2 WHEREAS, Research suggests that the granting of a wish can
3 give children the strength to fight harder against critical
4 illness; and
5 WHEREAS, A wish provides renewed hope, uplifts the spirits of
6 children and can unite neighbors, friends and communities; and
7 WHEREAS, "World Wish Day" 2025 marks the 45th anniversary of
8 the fulfillment the first wish in April 1980 that inspired the
9 creation of the Make-A-Wish Foundation; and
10 WHEREAS, "World Wish Day" was first officially celebrated
11 April 29, 2010; and
12 WHEREAS, "World Wish Day" 2025 marks the 15th anniversary of
13 the first official "World Wish Day"; therefore be it
14 RESOLVED, That the Senate recognize April 29, 2025, as "World
15 Wish Day" in Pennsylvania.
