The bill amends the Legislative Officers and Employes Law of January 10, 1968, by adding a new section that mandates the Chief Clerks of the Senate and House of Representatives, as well as the House comptroller, to publish a quarterly list of specific expenses incurred by both chambers. These expenses include per diems, travel allowances, meals, lodging, equipment, office expenses, and miscellaneous costs related to committees. The list must be made available on a publicly accessible Internet website.
Additionally, the bill specifies that the published expense list must include detailed information such as the individual for whom the expense was incurred, the dates of submission and reimbursement, the legislative purpose of the expense, and the account from which the expense was paid. The format of the expense list must be searchable by various criteria, including name and date, as authorized by the respective management committees of the Senate and House. The act is set to take effect in 60 days.
