Modern vehicles are equipped with advanced technology that collects vast amounts of personal data, including real-time location tracking, driving habits, and biometric information. While these features offer convenience, they also pose serious safety risks—particularly for survivors of domestic violence who may be unknowingly tracked or monitored by an abuser.

I will soon introduce legislation to establish critical safeguards to protect Pennsylvanians, ensuring that vehicle data cannot be exploited to facilitate harm. This bill will:

  • Require automakers to obtain clear, informed consent before collecting and sharing vehicle location and usage data.

  • Restrict the unauthorized sale or transfer of sensitive vehicle data that could compromise personal safety.

  • Empower individuals to access, delete, or limit the collection of their vehicle data.

  • Implement protections to prevent abusers from using connected vehicle technology to stalk or monitor survivors.

No one should have to fear that their car—something meant to provide freedom and security—could be used as a tool of control or harm. Please join me in supporting this crucial legislation to enhance automobile data privacy and protect our constituents here in Pennsylvania.
