As many of you are aware, in the last several years, many of our breweries have expanded their operations to include distilled spirits.
However, our current liquor laws are out-of-sync with this new development. Under current law, a brewery and a distillery may not operate at the same location, nor may they serve for on-premise consumption at the same location.
These prohibitions are an impediment to commerce and counter-productive to breweries who are looking to also distill spirits.
This pro-business legislation will allow a single entity to hold and operate a brewery license at the same location.
Furthermore, the legislation will allow a licensee who operates a brewery and limited distillery license to be considered a single entity for the purpose of on-premise consumption.
It is my belief that this legislation i commonsense and makes Pennsylvania more competitive in the growing brewing and distilled spirits industry.
Thank you in advance for consideration of the quality piece of legislation.
