Next year marks the 250th anniversary of the birth of our nation. The penning of the Declaration of Independence in 1776 served as the turn of a movement built on ideas to the establishment of a nation. Pennsylvania played a critical role in our nation’s founding, including hosting the signing of our Declaration, Constitution, and numerous other landmark moments.

The America250PA Commission intends to commemorate this anniversary by placing a commemorative semiquincentennial bell at the Pennsylvania State Capitol Complex. Our legislation enables the Commonwealth to place this privately funded bell on Capitol property for all Pennsylvanians to appreciate.
