Right now, cyber charter schools are only required to have 75% of their professional staff certified. That means 25% of the educators could lack proper certification—leaving a significant gap in the quality of education for the students they serve. On the other hand, traditional school districts are required to have 100% of their professional staff certified.
I am proposing legislation to require 100% of all professional staff at cyber charter schools to hold appropriate state certification. This is simply ensuring that cyber charter schools are held to the same standards as traditional school districts. Students at both school districts and cyber charter schools deserve to receive an education from qualified professionals who are prepared to teach them.
Please join me in cosponsoring this important bill to ensure all students, no matter their educational setting, are taught by certified, capable educators.
